Stay in a well-protected area like closed room with proper ventilation, covered shelter, Air protected vehicle etc.
Avoid early morning walks especially in parks /open fields. If necessary, always wear protective clothes.
Always keep your body covered with warm clothes.
It is advisable to take Gur (jaggery) and Honey during winter.
Kids and elderly people are more vulnerable during these days. Take their proper care.
Putting mustard oil regularly in the naval area especially for children is highly recommended.
Direct exposure to Sun light is recommended to supplement human body with Vitamin-D, which is found to be generally deficient during these days.
Prefer to drink Lukewarm or hot water to maintain body temperature.
Eat healthy food. Non-Alcoholic beverages should be preferred, but don’t take too much of tea/coffee.
Instead of wearing thick layered woolen/warm cloths, prefer to wear many light layers clothes.
Heating your room can be a good option to protect from cold waves, but check if you are unknowingly burning materials which can produce poisonous gases/pollution.
Avoid using heaters/ burning coals etc. particularly in airtight rooms. They may be extremely fatal.
Monitor weather alert of your concerned location and make plan accordingly.
Please don’t forget to take care of your neighbor elderly one who live alone in your vicinity.
Always keep reserve of emergency power system. Power failure may occur frequently.
Make Emergency Home management plan in case power failure for longer duration.
In case of power failure, Freezers can keep your food preserved for 48 hours only.
If you are capable, please donate new/old warm cloths, blankets to needy people.
Uncontrolled Shivering, memory loss, disorientation, incoherence, slurred speech, drowsiness etc. may be a sign of cold wave related complications or hypothermia. Immediately rush to nearby doctor or hospital.
Always monitor your blood pressure level. If you are on medication for Blood Pressure, Diabetes etc. don’t forget to take regular medicines.
